Could I live without Digital and Communication Technologies?
I believe that digital communication technologies are necessity in my everyday life, in which I cannot live without.
I have become heavily reliant on technology when developing through the years, not merely as a form of education, but additionally participating in digital communication through my phone or laptop screen. Living without these technologies would be a challenge as I would feel lost if they were taken away from me.
Tech spikes established three reasons in which humans cannot live without technology, as they allow a form of entertainment, keep us feeling safe and educate. Technology has made an impact on people’s lives (Boyle 2016). Boyle depicts that in today’s society, a pencil is “unaided by both copy-and-paste” thus implying that technology is restricting individuals from being originals as alternately being ‘copy cats’.
Overall, digital technology is an ever-present aspect of our daily lives. Regularly, I use my phone and my laptop as a part of my everyday routine, in which I wake up and immediately read my text messages and scroll through my social medias platforms. As I pack my bag for university I ensure that my laptop is fully charged to insure I will be able to take notes, read emails and access lecture readings. In any spare minutes of my day, I will sit down and watch YouTube videos, for 10 minutes or possibly a couple of hours. To conclude, technology isn’t something I could give up as it is something that I am heavily reliant on however, I could consider limiting my dependence on technology overall, such as thinking for myself before turning to google or being more productive rather than spending hours watching YouTube videos.
